Just watched The Myth (2005) (Jackie Chan and Kim Hee-Seon). What an utter waste of time. Good thing I only had to sit through the last half. It had such a good premise too. And the special effects! Zomg craptastic! Worst of all was the overblown LOLDRAMA of the whole thing. You know in The Curse of the Golden Flower near the end where Chow Yun-Fatt’s battling his youngest son and his hair falls out and it’s swishing around ala Pantene ad (I lost all respect for the man that day), and where Anakin, now Darth Vader, goes “NOOOOOOO!” at the end of SWIII? Yeah. So The Myth is like those scenes, but for, like, the WHOLE MOVIE. It doesn’t even have the decency to look pretty. Well, it does from time to time but you need Crouching Tiger or Casshern level of pretteh to make my head stop hurting from the car crash that is the movie.
Also, I just noticed when I uploaded the promo poster for the movie. Jackie Chan’s character’s best friend, William, is wearing a damn fisherman’s hat. ON THE PROMO POSTER. I had one of those hats. In white terry cloth. I look terribly stupid in it, but I’m not feeling bad, because unless you’re a underage Japanese school girl with pigtails and anime-large eyes, YOU WILL LOOK STUPID. Yep, Mr Tony Leung (not THE Tony Leung, the other one), you look like a homeless bum. Geez.
