Baked Pizza Mushrooms

Baked Pizza Mushrooms

Made these the other day when Ray was in town. They are so fluffy light and yum. I like how it is vegetarian (vegos still eat eggs and cheese, right?) and still tastes robustly meaty and pizza-y.

You can find the recipe on nibbledish here.

The Omnivore’s Dilemna by Michael Pollan

book

I’m currently reading The Omnivore’s Dilemna by Michael Pollan. The book asks the question “what are we eating?” (A: corn, basically). In it, Mr Pollan traces the origins of three different types of meals – fast food, “organic” food and a huntered/gathered (yay for making up words) meal.

It’s shaping up to be a truly delightful read.

P.S. I didn’t realise the scientific name for chicken was gallus gallus. It sounds kind of silly.

Beard papa opening in Adelaide!

Beard papa opening in Adelaide!, originally uploaded by tr[n]ty.

We might have lost our bux but now we’ve got beard papa! The store opened today (^_^).
The first time i saw this store was in one of the MTR stations. Was it TST? Hrm. One of the smaller ones i’d have used quite frequently. Either on the island or quite near…can’t be further away than mongkok. I think i saw it in tokyo and singapore too.
I’ve never tried those cream puffs they are famous for though. Whenever i’m in the mood for one there’s always this huge queue!
They are having an opening week sale so maybe i’ll get try them at last.
Would have liked to buy now but 1) just had a sausage and egg mcmuffin and 2 hashbrowns and 2) the line’s still too long for me.

EDIT: To correct spelling from “bread papa” to “beard papa”. Sometimes, I can’t read.

Just because I haven’t gotten over the novelty of Google Street View yet, I present you with my food recommendations should you find yourself in this fair city/township.

It’s really a pity Rundle Mall is totally closed off to traffic :(

Saldechin Chinese Furniture and Tea House

jasmine and osmanthus tea Charsiu bao

I went to Saldechin last year while moseying around Adelaide, waiting for an interview to start. It’s located in one of those old bank buildings. I really like the atmosphere inside. Sort of serene, with bucketloads of grandeur. Good fusion of tradition and modern style.
