My workspace has 3 female associates. We dislike babies and shiny law students. We also have a predilection for passive aggressive notes (”painfully polite and hilariously hostile writings from shared spaces the world over”).

Yesterday I went to Emporio on Rundle Mall where the Scooter new season event was being held.
The store is 5 minutes walk from my place. Have I mentioned I love living in the city? Rocked up at about 10:00 when the store opens so I could get the goodie bag (which I did get. It had 3 pairs of various silicon cushiony gel shoe inserts which will come in very useful, a mini can of hairspray which won’t, and a tube of lip gloss. Not bad.) before it ran out. I normally wake up at 14:00 on weekends so much willpower was involved. I’m trying to change my body clock as per this post, so it’s all good. Incidentally I woke up at 10:00 on Sunday today and actually *made breakfast* so improvements all round.
I found out that there was only one pair left of Scooter’s Samy, and it was 2 sizes too small DDDD:
-gnashes teeth-
The SA tells me it sold out very quickly.
I did get to have a closer look at the shoe and realised that the red sole is not plain red. It has a rose print on it. I now realise that the horrible spangley “glittery” red sole for Betsey Johnson’s Chelsea is actually a rose print. I can’t decide what’s worse.
It may have been the lighting but also the colours on Samy seemed a bit more muted and less jewel-y sparkley. Not so good. They did have a black and white striped version left in my size. I like my stripes and I normally like plain colours but didn’t take to the black and white version. I suppose if you’re going flashy you might as well go all out. I did like the almond toe though. More comfortable than pointy shoes.
The store SA said they might get more Samy in later since it was so popular. Will have to keep an eye out.
To console myself I settled for Pamelia, which is surprisingly comfortable for shoes with such a high heel because of the platform.
While waiting for the SA to ring up my purchase one of the boy shoe models for the event said “tokidoki!” referring to my tokidoki for LeSportsac Vacanze Zucca (which looks like this but my print placement is different). I turned around and gave him a bleary smile as I was still half asleep. 10 minutes later I realise that I’ve pretty much snubbed the only other person in Adelaide who recognises tokidoki.
Cute blonde boy shoe model, I have a message for you:

Didn’t stick around for the actual event which was at 11:30. Went to Central Market where I turned into a pack mule after which I had various near misses on my bike due to an overloaded back basket fishtailing. I don’t know how those asians ride around on overloaded bikes. After lunch I went to the museum to see this keynote speech. Here’s the blurb from the Museum’s events guide:
Keynote speaker: Polaris Terrarum Mr Peter McLeish from Canada atmospheric and climate change in the Polar regions
What looked like a very promising lecture turned into basically…a nice slideshow and then a documentary on red sprites, an atmospheric phenemona, and then another nice slideshow. It was interesting learning about red sprites but srsly, that description is outta whack. Mr McLeish, aside from a few introductory comments didn’t actually deliver a speech. Oh well.
