A country Drive, by Horn Of Fury

Unlike the eastern states, post-Christmas shopping in Adelaide commences not on Boxing Day, but on the day after. Stores generally open from 6 am to about 9 pm. They normally close at 5 pm on Saturdays. Don’t laugh. It is a massive event with massive discounts. There is generally a lineup with masses of people ready to pounce on merchandise. Or so they tell me because I’ve never been able to get up in time myself, generally wandering in, bleary-eyed, at around midday. Nevertheless, I have in years past enthusiastically partaken in the post-Christmas sales rush.

This year I couldn’t stomach the thought. So today, Ray and I went for a drive in the country. We tootled along in his little hatchback, listening to Debussy.
