My church holds monthly breakfast events on Saturdays - normally just to get together and have additional fellowship and stuff.
This month we had a mid-autumn festival celebration. Although it isn’t exactly autumn here >_>. Let’s just call it a mooncake festival then.

There was a traditional clothing competition, poem-writing competition, lantern-making competition, lots of food, and everyone brought a mooncake to share.

Anyway, the reason why I was going through all that trouble to make hanfu was for this event.

In the end I didn’t have enough time to sew an over-robe (the top bit), so I had to just deal with having the green supposed-to-be undergarment top robe. The fabric used is not very luxurious looking, but meh.

In the end my outfit consisted of the green top robe, white underskirt, blue overskirt, and pale green sash. The pale green sash doesn’t turn up well in the photos, but it was the fabric I was going to make the over-robe out of.

Oh yeah, I won the traditional clothing competition.
And lots of people thought I was wearing Korean clothes. I told them it was a fusion of styles across the Han and Tang Dynasties. Actually I was just guessing. My original ldesign was very different, it was a one-piece robe with underskirt. In the end I sewed a design which I thought was the simplest to sew -lazy-

I learnt alot of about sewing technique though.
I think I’ll be able to sew a top that is actually wearable outside.

A girl at church actually asked if I could sew one for her too XD. I said I’d consider it if she contributes to my Buy Evane A Proper Sewing Machine Fund.
