Okonomiyaki!

I love okonomiyaki. I’ve had it about 5 times this week already, and I’m still not completely sick of it! I think the secret is not to eat too much. As long as you don’t feel full at the end of your meal, you will always crave more ^_^.

My okonomiyaki is a bit weird though. I don’t use cabbage, but shredded carrots. I’ve always found cabbage very fiddley. It’s hard to wash (and then it ends up all wet too!) and very fiddley to cut. Carrots are so much easier to handle, and then I normally just chuck them into the food processor to grate them. Easy! I think carrots are tastier too…

The okonomiyaki ends up looking rather orange, but oh well, small price to pay.

Normally, I also prefer it Kansai instead of Hiroshima style. Mixing it all into one batter is just easier. With Hiroshima style, yakisoba noodles are normally put inside as well. But that’s just weird! Noodles (starchy stuff) inside a pancake (even more starchy stuff)?!

Favourite fillings: Kimchi and prawns. Yeah, fusion!

Style of eating: So much okonomiyaki sauce and QP mayonnaise that you can’t see the okonomiyaki base anymore. Then, so much bonito flakes, aonori and sesame seeds that you can’t see the sauce and mayonnaise anymore. It’s very bad to eat a well-dressed okonomiyaki in a drafty room - all my bonito flakes and aonori will go flying everywhere!
