I recently discovered messpatch. It’s a patch developed by mess.be. It’s a very simple program that gets rid of alot of unwanted clutter in your msn messenger. Download it from the mess.be site (the site prevents linking to individual pages).
Because my msn is already stuffed full of plugins like msnplus! and stuffplug, it tends to conflict a bit with those programs - ie frequent crashing. So basically, if you’re like me, select as little things to vary as possible. The most important thing to me is the ability to remove the text ad bar from the bottom of the conversation window. So I basically only use that…and it works fine. -fingers crossed-
Anyway, here’s a screenshot of what my msn windows look like now - it’s a combination of msn plus!, stuff plug and the messpatch.
And oh, by the way, I’m using MSN messenger 7.5 (beta).

Be VERY careful when using this!! It completely stuffed my msn for awhile. When you make changes, make sure you unload all previous changes, so you will always be able to go back to what it was like before installing messpatch. Messpatch cannot be uninstalled normally, so restoring to previous settings is the only way to “uninstall” messpatch!!
I didn’t do this and it seriously screwed with messenger. Plus! and stuffplug kept crashing. I uninstalled everything, even messenger, but the problem hung around until I finally got to install a different version of MSN - MSN 7.5 final. Now Plus! and stuffplug finally work without crashing, and I am NEVER touching messpatch again. It’s too easy for careless and forgetful people to go wrong :-/
