yi xing purple clay teapots (22-02-05)

i like looking at chinese pottery n teapots. actually, i like anything related to tea drinking (well…..i like to look and drink. doesn’t mean i know anything about it…)

hku had an exhibition on i-hsing teapots n calligraphy recently. i-hsing/yi xing teapots are meant to be the best because they are made out of this spcial purple clay. it apparantly keeps the flawour of the tea for longer …and…..it looks good? i said i didn’t know much about it…….
oh yeah, n apparantly it’s beaten into shape too~! looking at these pieces…who would’ve thunk, eh?

n there this whole exactitude that goes into how well the tea is poured out…..the way the teas pours out must b at a certain angle or something…

anyway…..they all looked pretty cool. it was kinda hard to take photos tho. they were all in glass cases n there was a great deal of glare.

oh yeah, i also went to have a look at the hku art museum. it was pretty cool. there was ancient pottery…….stuff. there was also a tea gallery, where you can have tea made for you *properly*…in the right way, in the right teapot, with the right steeping time……
but by then i was too lazy to take photos. anyway, here you go. the i-hsing teapots (mouse over for captions):
